1. Arrive early that morning - no later than 7:20 a.m.
Check locator lists.
(grade 9 & 10 in auditorium windows;
grade 11 & 12 in Student Store windows)
Locate your 1st period class on the list.
Report to that class where you will receive your 2nd semester schedule.
Some class changes will occur as we adjust our course offerings to meet student needs.

Take advantage of our Tutoring Center beginning the first week of school
we have expanded our
TUTORING CENTER
with more teachers and more peer tutors!
The center will be open each week Monday -Thursday from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. in Room 74. Teachers and peer tutors will be available each day. Students should check for the content area expertise that is available each day.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
January 2012

Dear Parents and Students:
Happy New Year and welcome back to school! We hope you had a pleasant holiday.
The second semester of the 2011-2012 school year is underway, and there are many positive developments at Alta Loma High School. For example, our attendance continues to improve over last year. We are pleased to see that students and parents know the importance of attending every period, every day as there is a direct correlation between attendance and success in school.
We are also pleased with our initial efforts to extend student learning time with Project Success, our Saturday academic program. We were thrilled to see about 800 students attend school on Saturday, December 10. They worked with up to two of their teachers and with their peers to improve their achievement in the classes they attended. We look forward to offering Project Success Saturdays up to three times during second semester.
Final grades for the first semester will be issued the week of January 16. Please review the progress your student made with him or her. It is important to review carefully the progress your children have made in their classes. I always like to commend students for positive efforts and good results. For students who may be underachieving or struggling in a class, it is important to help them put together an improvement plan. We are eager to help you with that effort. Counselors are well-equipped to teach students strategies to improve. Discussions with students’ teachers can be productive conversations that focus on student achievement.
We also will continue to offer our expanded Tutoring Center Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. where students can get extra help. We have several teachers and peer tutors available every day. Please encourage your child to take advantage of this valuable resource.

CSF (California Scholarship Federation) is the oldest scholarship institution in our state. CSF honors outstanding academic achievement for high school students and is held in high esteem by colleges and universities nationwide. There are more college scholarships available to CSF members. You will wear a special stole at graduation signifying your membership for 4 semesters. If you would like to be a member of this group, please see Mrs. Campbell in the Career Cener, before school, at lunch or between classes.
