May 2016

With Spring Break, Prom, and the SBAC tests now behind us, the school year is rapidly coming to an end.   We have less than three weeks left of school before finals, so students must work diligently to finish the semester successfully.  Final progress reports have been mailed home, and it is imperative that all students and parents use that information to assess progress in each class.  Also, continue to monitor School Loop and communicate with teachers and counselors if you have any concerns.

This is especially crucial for senior students as graduation is right around the corner, and we want to see all of our seniors at our first commencement ceremony in Alta Loma’s Uhalley Stadium on Thursday, May 19th.  This will be an historic occasion!  Please see the comprehensive Commencement Guide on our website for more graduation details.

Parents can continue to help their students by reviewing their student’s progress each day and by ensuring that homework is complete.   Also, please help by making sure your student is attending every class, every day.   Finally, some students are taking online classes needed for graduation and/or college admissions.  They must complete those by May 16th.  If needed, please take advantage of our Guidance Office services.  We are happy to assist students and parents in their endeavors to improve, achieve, and finish the year successfully.

Finals will be held on Tuesday through Thursday, May 17 - 19 (these are minimum days).   All students should begin preparing for finals each night by reviewing the content that they learned.

Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Alta Loma community for entrusting me with the care of Alta Loma High School for the past seven years.  This is a great school, and I am proud of all that our students, staff, parents, and community have accomplished.  I wish Alta Loma’s next principal Jason Kaylor well as he embarks on his journey as this school’s next leader.  I know he will do a great job!

I wish you all the best.
